Random and bold

During my trip to Odisha, I was on my way to Bhuvaneshwar after visiting ‘Lalitgiri’, a Buddhist Complex. At the side of the road, against the backdrop of a hill was a small but eye-catching concrete structure that I now refer to as ‘Akshar House’.

Its white walls are adorned with large hand-painted letters of Oriya script. It is a random composition of text by an unknown painter. They were raw and impulsive. The rounded letters and the boldness in design leave an impression. The mismatched colours give a rebellious look and one bold green letter becomes the center of attention.
